THE mother whose son died in the care of the troubled Linden Centre has been told that a public inquiry will not take place into his death – even if she funded it herself.
Matthew Leahy, 20, from Heybridge, found hanged at the mental health unit in Chelmsford on November 15, 2012.
An inquest in January into his death ruled this was due to a catalogue of failings by the North Essex Partnership Foundation Trust (NEP).
But despite a coroner’s suggestion to hold a public inquiry, the Trust has ruled against the possibility.
